SPENCER BUTTE neighborhood association
WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Established in 1954
The Spencer Butte Neighborhood Association (SBNA) was formed in 1954 as a way to keep neighbors connected and informed of things happening in our rural setting. Our organization has gone through many transformations over the years. In its present state, the SBNA maintains itself as a social organization along with community education and awareness, as it strives to keep neighbors connected and informed about local issues and concerns.

2024 Fire Season for the Spencer Butte area begins Monday, July 1
“Effective 12:01 am on Monday, July 1, we [the Oregon Department of Forestry, Western Lane District] will be declaring Fire Season. Initially, we will be at Low (Green) Fire Danger for Public use activities.”
Check fire danger level each day you want to do a potentially restricted activity.
- If you use Facebook, the easiest way to check for fire danger level is to check the top of the ODF Western Lane Facebook page.
- If you don’t use Facebook, you can go to the ODF statewide map. Zoom in far enough so clicking on the map gives you the “Western Lane District” fire danger level in the left panel.
Public Use Restrictions Chart – indicates the which activities are allowed and prohibited (e.g. mowing, chain saw use), and what precautions (e.g. fire extinguisher, shovel) are required for each activity, at each fire danger level.
SBNA Local Neighborhood Groups
SBNA is divided into ten local neighborhood groups to facilitate communication with our nearby neighbors. Each local group decides on its activities and has a leader.
Today's:
- Home Wood Heating – LRAPA. (Should I use my woodstove today?)
- Outside Burning – LRAPA, or, call (541) 726-3976. (Can I burn my burnpiles today?)
- Lane Electric Cooperative Power Outage Status
- Lane Electric website page with Outage Map & Status
- Lane Electric Facebook page (updated more frequently than the website during an outage)
- Fire Risk – As of 10/1/23, we are not in fire season, so there are no ODF “Public Use” restrictions.
