New Draft of the Oregon State Fire Hazard Map Available for Public Comment
The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) will be accepting public comment until Aug. 18.
It appears that all of the SBNA area is classified as “low” or “moderate” wildfire hazard risk, which means that SBNA-area properties should not be subject to building codes currently in development.
A new Oregon Defensible Space Code is in final draft form. according to the State Fire Marshall’s website.

- New Lane County Firewise Grants of up to $15,500 are due May 31st – amounts are up to $15,500 per property. Applications will be available May 1 on the Lane County Firewise website. Note the list of preferences for funding.
- SBNA PicNic set for June 1st. More info will be e-mailed to SBNA members in May.
- “Preparing for Wildfire in the South Willamette Valley” presentation May 20th, 5:30pm at the Shedd sponsored by the Eugene Parks Foundation. Pre-registation required, $15 donation requested.
